uMatrix / uBlock Origin usage?
I find uMatrix and uBlock Origin being very useful and well designed.
Congratulations to Raymond Hill, their developer! :hattip: The two browser add-ons are lightly different. If I'm not wrong, uMatrix strength is to have very precise rules depending on web components (cookie, CSS, image, media, script, XHR, frame, other) while uBlock Origin comes with numerous ad/privacy/security static filters and a little less precise dynamic filter. My question is about using both add-ons at the same time. Some sites recommend to use them together because they don't serve the same purpose exactly while some other websites indicate some potential issues/interferences with both activated at the same time. So do you use one of them? Both of them? Can you give more details about your usage/modus operandi/basic configuration please? Thank you in advance. |
I use ublock origin just as it comes, works well for me. :)

I just use uBlock Origin in "advanced-mode". Javascript disabled globally, and only enabled for a few select sites, and even then only where its use is justified.
I have no qualms about walking away from a site that insists on javascript for no good reason. Plenty of alternatives out there. |
uMatrix / uBlock Origin usage?
I use httpseverywhere, ublock origin, noscript, and privacy badger. I leave JavaScript disabled unless it is absolutely needed. My preferred web browser is Firefox. However, I do use chromium to do my banking, otherwise the bank web site breaks or complains. Usually about Firefox being too old.

So you can allow javascript (default setting) while still blocking other scripting or 3rd-party resources. Or in your case, you can block javascript globally and allow it on a site-by-site basis. |
