UCLA Health Systems Settlement
 

I received an email that told me I could get 2 years of free credit monitoring because I was a plaintiff in a case about a data breach at UCLA hospital. I used to live near there, went to UCLA often, but never for medical care. Has anyone else encountered this? I suppose it could be a scam.

It sure sounds a like a scam to me.

A web search tells me that the data breach and the settlement were real, but, if you were not a plaintiff in the case, I think your suspicions are well justified. Don't click on any links in the email, but research them thoroughly.

Plausibility is the scammer's best friend.
