I'm sad that it's coming to this, and it has been for a while. Sites like this one will, inevitably, become impossible when legal restrictions become tighter. Governments and corporations have been pushing for years to make hosting sites and internet providers responsible for all content they facilitate because most governments and corporations are, at the core, corrupt entities exploiting those they have power over. It's ironic that the current US administration is such a good example of this but is the one likely to stop any criticism of it.

I just can't let that go....
It isn't that the current administration is trying to stop criticim, but that both sides of any issue should be shown.
As it is, the far left wing controls most of the media and "reports" a long string of outright lies. The communist news network, aka, cnn, is probably the worst. google news, msnbc are just as bad.... Oh, excuse me, pravda west, aka, the new york times, is thw worst of the lot. For those too young to remember, pravda was the offcial newspaper of the old soviet union.
I'm old enough to remember when the media just reported the news. They don't "report" anything anymore, it now blindly bias, pure left wing propaganda.
I'm not a republican or a democrat, but a registered non-partisn with an understanding of government, or, at least, how is it suppose to work under the U.S. Constitution. What many people don't seem to understand is that those on the left side of the aisle are NOT your grandaddy's democrats, but outright socialists, fascists, and communists who are willing to destroy the country, regardless of the cost to the public, as long as they somehow end up in control of whatever is left.
Rant over.
As I said, it is best to leave one's politics at home.

If you truly believe in freedom of information and the honest discussion of beliefs then, please, do not use meaningless terms such as "left wing". If you have an argument with a specific belief then please state the belief you disagree with. These hand-waving "left" and "right" arguments do nothing to help.
You absolutely do not have to be "left" or "right" or believe anything that is said or typed by anyone -- you are an individual person and your beliefs should be your own. People are individuals and are not "right wing" or "left wing" -- they are people with opinions based upon what they have learned. Yes, there are indoctrinated people but one of the tell-tale signs of indoctrination is labelling of "other".

Your country of residence may have a political system even more broken than that of mine but that should not shape the way you view or describe the world.

Am I? The current US administration would have it that anything I type here is the opinion of the site owner.

Yes they do. And have for 50 years. They are just not being coy about it for the last 20 years. It's blatant.

There is also the right wing media, and they lie/twist/spin too. And it is blatant.

We don't have a media in the U.S. We have political action groups that try and propagate their agenda. And a dumbed down citizenry that have no intellectual curiosity to ask questions.

What I mind is the citizens airwaves being used to propagate an agenda. Those airwaves don't belong to ABC NBC CBS PBS..etc. They belong to the citizenry of the U.S.

Those "news" organizations have to be re-licensed every few years to use them. I would like to see a review of how they have performed, by a non partisan group. If after the review it is determined that they did a very poor job during that license period, I would like to see a refusal to renew their license.

Put those frequency bands up for bid to other companies, and see if they can do a better job of serving the entire population, and not just cater to a small segment. Monitor them to see how they do.

I think that would fix this. Let them know that you can't use the citizenry's airwaves to try and propagandize the population.

I realize that would not be quite so easy. Who gets to monitor them? Who gets to decide?

Right now the fix is....You are lying radical left media...ok we will counter you with right wing media...and let the two camps watch what they want. Guess what you get from that. Two camps, that air different news, with their own spin on it.

Ever see a CNN and Fox News viewer try and talk about the "news". They don't even know the other one is talking about!

Where the heck are you going find a group like that?

Yes, I realize that sounds rather simplified. The idea is some form of accountability.

In the US, if you get three speeding tickets in a year, the courts suspend ones drivers license. There is a process, time and expense involved to get it back. Unless you are just thick and stupid, when you get your license back you'll slow down and obey the law better from now on.

I you get caught lying on purpose to your audience three times in a month, then perhaps you should have your license suspended, and some kind of process, time and expense, that must be done to get your license back. I don't mean you gave a political opinion, rather you out and out lied. And evidence shows that. Even to the point of causing riots and deaths.

The FCC regulates the radio frequencies used in the US. I think that they would be the natural branch to implement that. In fact there has been talk of that for decades now, but it always gets dropped. The media always spins that as an attack on free speech/freedom of the press.

I want free speech/press, I want the press telling on what government is doing, but for decades they have had no accountability other than ratings. They are part of the reason for this great divide that paralyzes the US. Russia, Russia, Russia... for 2 years. But circle the wagons around the party that they like and try to help them, and cover for them.

Trump is misguided to be "attacking" Twitter. Nevertheless, much of the media is going out of its way to vilify and denigrate Trump through "fake" news. There needs to be greater rejection by both the public and journalists concerning shameful "fake" news.

I find it humorous he complains about his favourite social media application.

Like he can't handle using another.

Kinda like using a sledge hammer to swat a fly.

Living among southern rednecks and latinos.
Familiar.To me.

What about Alex Jones, Laura Loomer, Lila Rose, James O'Keefe, Pamela Geller, etc., and now Donald Trump? All conservatives, all censored. Anyone who denies conservatives are being censored forgets news too fast.

I would like to see a for-pay government-run alternative to social media in place, just to protect the stability of the economy from the instability of political correctness. Preferably it would be something Mega-like run by the USPS and funded by digital stamps, and tied to a physical address. All legal forms of hate, spam, and porn will be allowed per the First Amendment (remember you would have to pay for digital stamps and have a physical address listed on the message). This way Alex Jones can deliver audio clips and Trump can deliver short messages to anyone who opts into a list.

I hope Trump wins (and in turn the American people), it's high time these fake news outlets are held responsible for perpetuating propaganda that is soley one-sided (while at the same time shadow banning conservative posts). It would be irresponsible as a society to let these tech companies become the arbiter of truth, as that would in turn lead to the rise of technocrats. Do we really want technocrats running a country? We all know the morals/values of Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

The riots from these extreme leftists that is happening right now is the direct result of fake news.. They sensualize and key in on isolated cases and say things like, "look how rampant racism is, its everywhere and you should be angry!". Then what do you expect when you keep beating that idea into people; eventually you spark a fire (i.e. group think) that becomes very hard to put out.

C'mon guys do you really hold the same amount of disdain towards the president that these thugs do? Think about it, you hold the same political affliation as criminals who set buildings on fire and chant profanities like"F Trump, F Trump". That to me is just yet another piece of telling evidence on who's in the right here. Wake up sheeple!

Dont get me wrong though, Trump I dont think knows alot about 'the cyberspace' so he can overstep. In which case the pushback needs to be bilateral in such situations.
