Yeah, that's the feeling I'm getting lately.

Really? None of this rhetoric is necessary.

And a reminder that personal attacks against members are against the rules and will not be tolerated. Stay on topic or the thread will be closed. I do not moderate this forum but since the thread is starting to degrade I had to comment.

I'm unsubscribing from this, I don't see how I can continue constructively. Initially, I felt singled out by that, but I can see that was just my perception of the situation.

Just FTR michaelk, I wasn't in the least upset and I'm who he was referring to as well as the OP and I don't want this thread to be closed just because any one or even a number of folks gets "their panties in a bunch". We are supposed to be adults here with enough experience and chutzpah to "take a punch" without folding like a $3 suit. My apologies for all the clioches but they seem fitting, don't you agree? Anyway please refrain from reporting anyone. IMHO the moderators have shown exemplary discretion and I really don't want to see that get locked down. Thank you in advance.

Ooops! I responded to the previous message before I read this. All I can say is that if you find anything in this thread offensive kindly stop visiting. Don't spoil it for everyone else. You can protect your sensibilities without forcing them on others, right?

EDIT: I should've added that I'd prefer this thread stay open because it is an important subject and may even draw new members who appreciate a brave and adult forum that allows such subjects. Sure it is a contentious subject, but I submit anything of any real importance is, right?

I find it sad when a country forest policies reaches over into another country and effects their population. Like these amazon forest fires. Amazon covers more turf than just Brazil. Not to mention the air pollution and CO2 emissions.

Since we all share this dirt. Seems only polite to react right when offered help from others instead of politics drawing us apart.

Quote:
.Bolsonaro told reporters, according to Reuters: “The Amazon is bigger than Europe, how will you fight criminal fires in such an area? We do not have the resources for that.”
But at the same time, Bolsonaro said last week that Brazil doesn’t need foreign aid money after Germany and Norway froze funds because he refused to put the money toward helping the rain forest, the Washington Post reported.
When you mix politics in with disasters . Everyone loses, < except for the pro burners. with gas masks >

Between careless people with fire, politics, religious terrorism, plus anything else I can't think of like some one just pissed at the world.

If we burn down, Oh well. Next poster can tell me all about motorcycles and hills instead of roller coasters.

Actually my question was rhetorical. None that I know of are contemporary, requiring a search and even then nowhere near up to date which is important since the rapidity of change has constantly been underestimated. If this one does get closed, or just dies out, in a year or so, I'll start another.

I consider this and similar threads to be of substantial importance, not only because of the base subject but of the underlying concern with people distrusting anything and everything created or reported by Science or Government. Yes one should be skeptical but it isn't wise to become so BiPolar to be blind to any good accomplished by them, and judge according to a complete tally. They all have to live here, too, and will benefit and suffer, even if to a lesser degree than "we peasants", right along with the rest of us.
