Debian patch there software, Arch and Slackware, generally don't. The Op's issues seems to be all related with the patching process, so my suggestion was given so they can experience a distro that doesn't.

I think he is having difficulties and that is why he went on a Rant-age (forgive the pun please). He listed apps that don't work properly for him and if he considers they are not working properly he must be having difficulties otherwise why bother with posting after so long of not posting here.
Debian isn't the easiest distro to install but using it is a breeze. If you want "just works" install Ubuntu and be done with it, then when your machine wont load past Plymouth and you file a bug report, or post on the official forums about it, only to be told to get better hardware you'll remember how simple Debian really is.
