this site only works only with Internet Explorer 5.5 and above
I am sick of seeing this message on career/job placement websites and having to start a Virtual Machine just to upload my resume (had to do this for 2 separate websites now) in which it attempts to parse the information into categories and I have to manually enter it in anyways....
What's worst is that the employers are sometimes looking for Linux/Unix/Aix experience! Someone somewhere is being very presumptions to assume all it's users will be using IE. |
Considering Firefox is more then 20%. You should just change your user agent string.

the site would still allow me access to everything,
somethings just wouldn't work. I'm using chrome but I tried FF and Opera for good measure I may try changing my user-agent next time, but I don't have much hope in that working. |

action*; I would contact the site(s) and suggest that they should support FF. Explain to them (politely) that FF accounts for ~20-30% of all browsing. I have had some success with such requests. |

The user agent thing doesn't always work. Sometimes the sight literally does not work with firefox. Lets blame microshaft's ASP.NET for making invalid webpages ;)

I have once seen a site that stated something like the site could only be viewed properly with W3C compliant browsers and that IE users should not attempt to view the site
And if you ever want to ban IE from your site, get a domain name with an underscore in it and use session variables that you check before displaying content. It took me months to solve a problem caused by that undocumented feature; Firefox and Opera worked properly, but IE lost it every time (user logs in, gets redirected and session variable is gone). |

install "user agent switcher" in firefox and for those web sites set it to tell them you are a " Windows 7 or vista OS and Internet Exp 8 i have yet to hit a site that this will not work on unless it is a MS Windows app ( on the site) that is being ran on IE8 Quote:
