The most common scam calls I'm getting these days are telling me that the warranty on my vehicle is about to expire (my vehicle is a 2003) and trying to sell me an aftermarket warranty that covers almost nothing.
I got one of those the other day for my old washing machine, which must be about the same age as your car. But remember, a lot of people upgrade their equipment every two years or so, so the "coming out of warranty" claim probably sounds convincing.
My grandmother just got such a notice concerning a vehicle that she once owned. Unfortunately, my grandmother has been dead for twenty-five years, and she didn't own any car for the last five years of her life. I guess they don't clean up those lists very much ...
