The Man of Steel

Is anyone planning to see the man of steel opening next week?

I might see it and I hope it is better than superman returns

I may have to turn in my Geek card, but I'm getting bored with Hollywood's recycling comic book characters and old movie series while replacing plot and acting with green screens, hype, and CGI.

I will not be seeing it.

Yeah, I know what you mean but that is Hollywood today -- CGI and 3D is now the norm.

What annoys me is when they cast a new actor for a superhero movie they start from the beginning each time. I think after 50+ years everybody must know how superman became superman and vice versa for batman and spidernan.

I think Hollywood is lacking originality and is focusing too much on remakes as you said :)

I share some of the sentiment expressed here about Hollywood's lack of anything original (lately?).
The movies list I actually like is a very short list.

The Chronicles of Riddick being the last good, original movie.
And The Book of Eli...IMO...

Superman Returns
Man of Steel - didn't I just see that? (see above)

Spiderman I, II, and III
and now...
The Amazing Spiderman? Puh-lease.

John Carter bombed at the Box Office, but at least it wasn't a rehash and I like it because it hadn't been done!!

Very little original content coming from Hollywood.

CGI and 3D is great but these elements cannot make up for a bad script.

I've actually never liked the DC movies- I saw the first two recent Batman movies and just skipped the last one. I liked the Marvel ones, but skipped Iron Man 3 because it just seemed like more the same.

I've also started to get into Star Trek, but I get the sinking feeling XI and XII are taking Star Trek into mainstream Hollywood and barely resemble Star Treks I-X.... I just might pass on the new one, despite my girlfriend nagging me to see it.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to watch some Doctor Who.... :-p

I may watch it after I see the reviews. I honestly don't think it's gonna be that great. I mean they had to advertise it using the Batman movies as leverage.

I stopped watching Marvel movies, and I will never start watching them ever again. I honestly don't know how they keep going.

Star Trek looks more promising. They seem to be focusing more on action than boring philosophy, and are far better than the newer Star Wars (which I also will not watch). They could still use some better actors tho.

Things get rewritten, especially words. :D

I have seen the reviews and I'm definitely NOT watching the movie, maybe not even when it comes out on TV.

Some times a day at the theater is a treat even if the movie is so so.

I didn't see the movie but my neighbor said it was pretty good.

projectors are cheap...

I found this to be a rather uncommon take on the movie.

Not having seen (and having no intention of having seen) the movie, I don't have an opinion, but I found the article interesting enough to pass on.

Just saw, it's ok... But, how does he play super-man as a boy, red cape and all? lol
