The great list dilemma

Hello,
Sorry for the length, I tried to make it complete.

I'm asking for advice. I've changed the name of the gentlemen and I'm saying that his list is a list of Bat-Mobiles, which it's not. This is to maintain anonymity.

I, Robin, am in the market for buying a new Bat-Mobile. I found a list of Bat-Mobiles, and their specs, pinned online in a forum I frequent. The list is an excel sheet with editing permissions disabled. It was originally created by Mr. Alfred, probably for his own use. Others have contributed some entries over time.

Now for the problem. The list is out-dated. Rather badly out-dated. And there are tons of errors in it. We're talking order-of-a-magnitude in some cases. And people rely on this list for buying Bat-Mobiles as online Bat-Mobile sites, for the most part, don't have good filters or filled out fields describing the capabilities of the Bat-Mobiles.

Before I knew all of this, I fancied that I'd give Alfred a few more entries. Maybe I'd find one mistake, get it fixed, and then move on. But as I've had to read more and more datasheets for Bat-Mobiles I've found out how bad the list is.

So far, I've given Alfred some entries, but the list needs a thorough going over to get it correct. And I don't want to devote that kind of time; especially to Bat-Mobile models that aren't even sold anymore.

Now I could go over Alfred's list of Bat-Mobiles, even given these challenges, and give him corrections for each and every error. But, it would be tedious for him to update all that info and for me to provide it in text format when it should be in excel format with comments and highlighting as that is the way Alfred set it up.

I could also create my own list on github/lab. But then I don't want to steal Alfred's scooter/thunder. Such a new list would enable contributions from others.

In a company, I'd have no problem. You go to the boss. You tell him what's wrong. The team works to fix the problems. But IDK Alfred at all. I spend all my time either learning or with Batman. Which is the other half of a work/study program.

To be clear, people rely on this list, even non-forum members.

What do you advise?

Thanks

At the risk of sounding facetious, I suggest that you look into the work of George Barris.

To put it another way, your request left me somewhat at sea.

Have you asked Alfred what he thinks of this idea?

Put the list in a collaborative spreadsheet like Google sheets.

You do not need to worry about what what Alfred thinks. It’s not his intellectual property.

I have mentioned it to him, and others have effectively asked for the list to be in google sheets or similar. But so far Alfred has just turned the cold shoulder on all such suggestions. He hasn't even said yes/no. He just ignores them. It'd be easy to make a decision if we could all communicate.

Alfred is waiting for "Batman" Wayne to show up at the sculpture and press the "hidden" button.
