I'm going to have to watch it the next time I have two and a half hours to spare. Bill Nye is an excellent speaker and debater, and Ken Ham owning Bill Maher in Religulous was my favorite part of that movie.
Y'know, there was a day when I also believed that God was really, really mad at me ... in fact, that he was mad at the whole world and was ready to dump everyone into an eternal pit of fire-and-brimstone in exchange for (give or take) seventy-odd years of screw-ups. But then, I started thinking seriously about who was telling humanity that line. And, I came to realize, it was really coming from people who wanted thereby to control other people by leveraging (and, fomenting) their sense of guilt.
I started looking closer. And what I saw was: a golden-paved carrot, and a firey stick. Just the sort of thing that you might pronounce in sonorous tones to the peasantry while reading from a Book, knowing that they were unlettered and so couldn't read anything at all.
And then it really fell-apart for me when I considered phrases that had been in that Book all the time ... "neither do I condemn you," and so on. When it really sank in to me that "worrying about my eternal Fire-insurance Policy" was not what ought to be my primary point of concern ... I started all over again, trying to reconcile to a world in which condemnation doesn't exist. A world without certainty. A world that I am a legitimate part of, albeit for the very briefest of times. I won't spend that precious time cowering. My fellow-man needs me, and if I can find a way to help him, that's what I'm going to busy myself to do. And if that lands me in a Firey Pit somewhere ... so be it. I'll keep the lights on for ya.
You'll need Hell to keep you warm, in your Heaven that is so very, very cold . . .

Good point there. Watch this video >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2JcN6fbX40 << I kinda agree that something wrong is with this overdosed punishment - either God who rules is not true God of humans or well - it is evil(good doesn't punish that much) Or 100% neutral(doesn't involve in our lives at all apart from our creation)! Duh.
There are lots and lots of irreconcilable inconsistencies, if you put the story to the slightest bit of critical thinking. A God who can populate a planet by the sound of his voice, but who can't defeat an angel that he himself had made? A God who seems to be incredibly human, complete with human emotions and weaknesses? The list goes on.
And then you start to seriously consider things like this: "my ways are not your ways, my thoughts are not your thoughts." Yeah, of course. And likewise, in the holy-books of every human religion, tucked-away among the stories of gods having sex with one another , these quiet but profound realizations. That we really don't have a clue. That we really never will. That we probably have much better things to do with our brief time here than even to try.
Whereas, what we can do, for example, is just to try in some way to "whatever your hands find to do, do it." Yeah, I get that. Don't step over the guy in the gutter while you and your friends continue your deep theological discussions on the way from the steak place to your favorite bar and after-dinner drinks. If your co-worker asks you for a dollar, give him two and never ask for it back.
Per the LQ Rules: "Do not post if you do not have anything constructive to say in the post."
So, is there something constructive here? There have been many thoughtful posts made in this thread, but yours don't seem to be among them. You again appear to be interested in trolling folks. Again, WHEN you get banned from this site, it's not because anyone is 'afraid' of you or your beliefs...it's because you're unpleasant to have around and your behavior violates the forum rules.
Bill Nye is a scientist...to someone uneducated and willfully ignorant, I'm guessing it WOULD seem like magic. Ham 'lost' the debate, because he entered a battle of wits and was unarmed.

This qoute her is very very true but the problem is that 99% of the people really don't understand the true meaning of this quote.
to me it means that Gpd is inside all of use , now you have to remember that the meaning of god in this sense isn't the same as in religion in that it is some super being that lives in the sky and knows all it means the self, the word God ,at least to me, got all mixed up through the 1000s of years of translations and misinterpretaions Gid is the inner self and life force hat which makes us all living things alive the balance of life, now when the balance gets alittle off balance then nature trys to set things back into balance which causes natural disasters and also when trying to put things back into balance usually take a very long time.
peole always seem to forgot that most of these sayings are retranslated and rehashed from a time long ago.
everything that we know is from our past and from people interpretations at that time .
it like 20 people thatwitnessed the ame accident and where not alloud to speak to one another, if you tak thsoe 20 people into a room there storries will be different because of there perspective, they most like won't be completely different but they all will not say the same thing.
it is alos like sitting in a room full of people and whispering something into a person ear then telling them to whisper what was aid to the next person by the time it passes from one end of the room to the next what you would hear at the other end won't be the same as the original.
imagine thatsame thing happening for 10,100,1000 or years there is know real way that you know what was said originlly

Meaning what, as it applies to a discussion/conversation? Can you do nothing but post bible verses and one-word posts?
You continue to prove yourself a hypocrite and a liar...since you demonstrate both behaviors, can you explain why anything you say should be given any credence?
{...}You continue to prove yourself a hypocrite and a liar{...}
Actually he is none of those - just a creepy trollzy attention-wh0ring person. Because if he would be hypocrite or liar(which is kinda same btw) he would contradict himself. How does quoting bible that he believes is true makes him above mentioned? He simply is closed-minded.
Amongst other great examples, yes. Although, I do agree with Arcane's assessment, and bluegospel has contradicted himself MANY times...you just need to re-read some of the junk that hes posted in the past.
Given the fact that bluegospel has ADMITTED he comes here to troll, I continue to be astounded that the moderators don't ban him, especially given his behavior.
(Shrug ...) The same thing happens around every water-cooler, at some time or another. Just talk about whatever is the subject, not the people who are also chiming in. Practice the fine art of ignoring people.
