the best tech bobbled question call ever got was ...

i was working at one of the big oem computer companies at night as in 3rd shift and this call comes in and a co-worker gets the call.

<man> can't get onto internet...
<tech> check sys, and follow my commands

he goes through the whole thing which included a hyperterminal (yes it's windows) test and says nothing happened. the tech tells him to plug a regular phone into the modem to see if he can get a dialtone. his answer...

<man> what's a modem?
<tech> big, detailed explanation in extreme newbie terms.
<man> i don't have one of those things.
<tech> then how were you trying to get onto the internet???
<man> i saw one of those commercial that your computers can get onto the internet by clicking on the icon that is on the desktop, so i did and nothing happened and that's why i called.

Message left on my answering machine:

"Are you throught working on my computer? If you are it is still having trouble. My screen is flashing "check cable signal" at me a whole lot. Could you come fix it?"

After a good laugh with people in my dept I called back and pointed out that I took her computer because the harddrive failed. She didn't realize the computer wasn't even in there any more. I just forgot to turn her monitor off.

I'm sure that there are other funny calls I've gotten, that's the only one I can remember for now.

A user calls up our IT department's help desk and says:

User: "I'm having trouble printing."
Tech: "OK. What are you trying to print from?"
User: "My computer."
