Aside from that Linux is definatly better suited to my needs, and since it is only games that I find Linux lacking in I suppose it should be rephrased that Linux is definatly superior for my needs and only lacking for my wants. Though that's not really the fault of Linux, the ones that work run better and far more stable in Linux than in Windows. Too bad more people won't be like bioware and give us downloadable clients for their windows games if not actually put the linux version on the CD.

yes,the news is there,but am skeptical about any packages available any time in near future for Linux as with hdvd/blurays.btwn my Debian and Ubuntu works gr8 for me by playing all media's.

I agree with that totally. I use my computers as tools, not toys. I try to educate myself so that I can educate others, particularly when it comes to protecting the OS and their data. I do have some games installed (Doom3, UT, Quake1-3,RtCW), and I've set them up so that the data files are on the hd for faster loading, eliminating the need for the cd. It's much easier in Linux than in Windows because of symlinks.

In my opinion, Windows is a sandbox for children to play in, while Linux is a finely sculpted sand castle complete with a moat and fully-functional drawbridge.

So for the topic:
Linux is oriented towards giving the user insight to data, data-structures, documentation and knowledge. It's open from the ground up. It's also very efficient in performing whatever it does.

Windows has grown to obscurity, his esthetics are grown to obstacles for error/broken code and bugs. It sure has excellent code all around but the glue is becoming rotten with time. The politics of his makers, and the momentum make it onmi-present and predominant. As time passes it looses ground - battle by battle, day by day.

Linux IS growing, and won't stop.

Windows (any OS from MS) need far more than just a facelift to survive.

May be, next Windoze will be running on Linux like the new Mac already runs on BSD?
That way, reducing MS-OS to a frontend/GUI, they could endlessly facelift their product (what they are so good for) and re sell it bundled with EULA's, prop. codecs, and licensing fees, while letting the real experts doing what they are best in...

You can already do this.
Most DRM schemes are just slightly harder to remove than a virus written by a some teenage script kiddy. Most software (or links) can be found on the doom9 forums.

PS: ...and yes, it does compile on Linux as well (it's still rather difficult though).
All software provided by the doom9 folks is (rightfully) not meant for pirate purposes (no ID tags will be removed). Even though it's still annoyingly time consuming to install everything, it does work.
