Well, I've been learning VIM lately and I finally learned how to execute a custom command.
It's so awesome that I can compile/run programs from inside VIM by just defining a custom command. Very useful, though I still need to get the navigation down better. It's difficult to transition too but I really like it so far.
I should have tried to learn it sooner.

Windows sucks.... I just wanted to throw that out there.....

corp769 03-16-2011 05:09 AM

Code:

YOU’VE BEEN HIT BY THE

|^^^^^^^^^^^^^|
|Truck full of Mexicans| ‘|”””;.., ___.
|_…_…______====|= _|__|…, ] |
“(@ )’(@ )””””*|(@ )(@ )*****(@

Sorry, we have no insurance!

(Damn, it didn't come out right.)

Since this is the "$RANDOM" thread, I thought I'd share a "random script":

Code:

#!/bin/bash

A=$RANDOM
B=$RANDOM

while test $A -ne $B; do
        let A=$RANDOM
        let B=$RANDOM
done

echo "Congratulations! the cosmos have bestowed upon you"
echo "$A as your lucky number\!"

(partial credit goes to lupusarcanus :D)

If this script ever ends on its own, you are the luckiest person in the universe. :p

I think I'll leave this script running until it does end on its own. :P

I'm going to run it on my server :)

H_TeXMeX_H 03-16-2011 06:13 AM

The chances of the script ending are 1 / 1 073 741 824, assuming $RANDOM is a good RNG, which it is not. You may be waiting a while.

My script (MrCode's modification may run quicker) did 60,000 loops per minute, so it would take about 12 and a half days to finish. Nothing like good fun when you are bored! :D

Rudimentary VIM command:
Code:

command CCE :w | :!g++ -Wall %:p -o $(echo %:p | sed s/.cpp//); $(echo %:p | sed s/.cpp//); echo
Works nicely... Vim is cool. If only I was a touch typist...

TBH using Vim makes me want to dump all these bloated IDE's now. I just need to get used to this modal concept.

MrCode 03-16-2011 09:28 AM

Sorry if this seems like I'm shamelessly promoting my blog, but I've updated my "no" program to actually work for the most part. Still ain't perfect, though: the first line only prints the first few chars (due to the lack of sufficient memory to copy the whole string over).

...:D
