hi, I was wondering someone here can help me I am tryin gto find examples of a text based game engine. I will be making my own but I am tryign to find examples so I can further understand how I may go about making my game. This is a project for school due in a few weeks. I already tried source forge but I didnt know which ones would be good. This engine will be coded in java however C++ examples are fine as I know C++ rather well and java is quite similar.
There are some Text Based RPG's on the net (Legendary Tales is quite famous), but I found them really complex, especially if you need to school project done in a short time and most are written in C++. It will take perhaps longer to make a Java version from them then it would take to create a simple game from scratch...
If you are familiar with RPG's, it should not be that difficult. Ask the player for name and class and randomize everything you can: Battles (randomize against who the player is fighting against), hit or miss, etc.
If you lay down the basic concept and code, I think most peoples would help you out here. Text games are a lot of fun to do ^_^.
yeah I am very intimate with the RPG world As a class we are currently lying down a foundation of how we are going to do things. I was just hoping to find some soruce code that I can look at to see how others did it.
