I like magick and fantasy, so Harry Potter is cool. I havent read any of the books though, but the movies are entertaining.
As for my reviews below, please bare with me as I am not a die hard fan worthy of a convention, but I am working off memory and an online episode guide, so if I make a mistake please be gentle. And dont making fun of me!!
Star Trek:
Voyager: I like alot. Stories are good, and the action is constant.
DS9: Liked it when they got Defiant. I never could get into it when they sat on a space station, although that bartender was funny.
TNG: Was fine but I thought Picard was sometimes to diplomatic. I liked he was not as gung-ho as Kirk, but seomtimes you have to raise shields and fire all weapons and ask questions later. Not much action or effects, but I did appreciate the people interactions.
Enterprise: Worst series spinoff.... ever! I dont like Bakula, and the stories are bad, not to mention mucking up the whole timeline of events that ST followed. In fact, my guys friends watch it only for that pointy-eared woman. I guess she is a model or something.
The movies:
ST 1 - Motion Picture: Good visuals, and I like the hit the Enterprise took in the beginning. It was funny to watch everything get destroyed by that thing only to watch the Enterprise stand against it and survive. Touch ship.
ST 2 - Khan: By far one of the best space battles. It was not a normal dog fight, but actually required brain power on both Kirk and Khan. The end was great how the ship wapred out when that bomb thing blew
ST 3 - Spock: OK, but definately not my favorite. I was sad when they destroyed the ship. But it was funny to watch them leave that space station when they took the ship out.
ST 4 - Home: A real funny one. Watching them try to to get along was funny. Plus they got a new Enterprise.
ST 5 - God: I did not like this one at all. I think the stars wanted a paycheck, and so they made this movie.
ST 6 - Country: My fav with the old crew. It answers many questions that TNG brought up, and it was a great battle scene. And it had some funny parts.
ST TNG - Generations: Good, but sad. Kirk dies, and the Enterprise is destroyed. I did like the battle scene. ANd that robot was pretty good.
ST TNG - First Contact: I like the borg. I think that it is the writers idea of MicroSoft. Notice the Borg could not get past the security system on the Enterprise computer? Must be running Linux Very psychological for ST. Plus the new ship is awesome looking.
ST TNG - Insurrection: The TNG equivelent to ST 5. They needed to make a paycheck to get approved for their new home loans, and this crap is what was produced. Still better than ST 5 though
ST TNG - Nemesis: My favorite because of the battle scene. It lastest a long time, and was 3 dimensional, instead fo the usual space battle in which all the ships only operate in 2D.
Story lines are a requirement, but I like battles, especially when the shields are being impacted. I have always thought it was cool to watch the shields block a hit yet still produce a translucent bubble around the ship. I dont know. I am weird.
Star Wars:
1: OK. Not happy about Jar Jar. I hate stupid creatures in movies that are added for strictly comic value and are suppossed to become something important. He should have had his head taken off with a light blade thing.
2: Anakin is more grown up physically, but mentally I think he actually regressed. What a punk ass. And what does Portman like about him? Good action scene on the planet though. Yoda was fun to watch.
3: Still not out yet
4: Decent. Han Solo is hot. He can smuggle me anywhere
5: The city in the sky was neat to look at, but I dont like Solo getting put in a block of ice.
6: My fav. Great battle, good acting, and the effect of watching the Solo ship fly thu the moon station was exciting. I was not fond of those small bear creatures though.
Out of any of them, I do not like that one robot, my co-worker tells me is C3PO? I like the other small one that makes all the beep noises.

If you are weird, you're my kind of weird.
DS9 was possibly my favorite series because it was was darker and more morally ambiguous than most of Star Trek - but damn if they didn't have some great battles, like the big one at the series finale. And Defiant had the coolest phasers. I missed Nemesis (and Insurrection). I assume that's on video? Have to go pick it up.

or my friend's. I'm a different type of weird. () If I'm not at the computer then my nose will be buried in books about Einstein, Hawking, Physics, Quantum Mechanics, etc.etc. and all other nerdy stuff
I'm a sci-fi freak, love starwars. star trek, have all the movies on dvd, stargate sg1 is absolutely fantastic, season 1 box set only for now, more planned on the way. Next generation another favourite, missed quite a few episodes from many of the seasons so that will be next on list of things to buy. Star trek voyager is not bad, not really into the Jane Way, idon't think she really does the part well. Deep Space 9 ( Deep sleep 9 how ever you say it) was ok, but it didn't really appeal to me that much, except for the females running around in bodysuits, so i only watch a few episodes. Enterprise look really good but i've only watch a few episodes of that too, and i haven't had a chance to catch up with it.
Kirk - TOS: He was descent. He listened to his crew, usually thought before he acted on anything, and was fair and impartial. He took no bull from anyone, even his fleet, and while he would always be diplomatic, he would have no issue getting ready to fight.
Picard - TNG: While I thought he was a good captain, he was to soft. He needed to be more aggressive. As an example, I remember one episode when the Enterprise was being shot by a few green ships (Romulans?), and Picard would not return fire. Screw that!
Sisko - DS9: I liked him best out of all the male captains because he was like Kirk but he actually knew how to have fun. He was passionate for what he believed in, and he was a good dad. I could go for him, but he had this thing for a girl that had a worm in her stomach (I am thinking Daz?)
Janeway - Voyager: Many people do not like her, but I am not sure why. I thought she was a pretty good captain. She stood up for her crew, she no crap from anyone, she cared for her friends and her crew, and she liked ot explore. And I know you guys like that she saved Seven. So dont be hatin'
Janeway - Voyager: ... And I know you guys like that she saved Seven. So dont be hatin'

I love her for that, lol.
I believe that the crew makes the captain more effective than mere nature of the character. So, I feel that Kirk and Picard and Janeway were all equal.
Either that or I don't wish to stand a phaser discharge by one of the other fans

That's exactly a huge part of it for me. I can't count how many times she *refused* to *fight* - or put it off as long as possible - and foolishly jeopardized the ship and crew. But she just gets dragged down in general because I couldn't stand the show.
I can't decide - Janeway and Archer are lame captains on lame shows. But Kirk, Picard, and Sisko are all cool captains on cool shows. I think Picard was probably the best character (in the sense of a complex, believable creation) and Stewart was *definitely* the best actor. But my favorite is not necessarily identical with best and captain is not necessarily identical with character. I dunno. As long as I wasn't wearing a red shirt, I'd probably feel best on the original Enterprise, so Kirk must be my favorite. It's basically that he was Captain first, foremost, and almost only. He wasn't mindlessly violent but he definitely didn't have the reluctance all the other captains had to use force. In a way, he was the simplest and, miltarily, probably the smartest. What was that thing? The Kobiyashi Maru? "I don't believe in no-win scenarios." Right on.
Then again, I always liked the "We have this choice or this choice" that Picard was always confronted with and his "No, there must be a third alternative!" Kirk could take a singularity and make it binary. Picard could take a binary and make it a synthesis.
And one of my favorite scenes (though I've forgotten the details) are of Sisko allowing the Romulans to be deceived to get them into the war on the right side or whatever the deal was. Sisko got his hands dirty to achieve the necessary effect. He was capable of doing what it took when the synthesis and the binary collapsed back to the singularity, even if it didn't suit his notion of how things ought to be. Janeway would shatter under such a choice - never make it - be destroyed. I assume - I didn't watch Voyager very long before I got sick of it but tuned in occasionally later and nothing ever seemed any different.
Okay - past time for me to shut up.
Stephanie - Jadzia Dax. (One of my all-time favorite characters.)
Jadzia was the one I was thinking of. I know there was two or three others, but Jadzia was the best. She was smart, confident, and still feminine, which I think many girls need as a role model.
As far as acting ability, I have to lean toward Picard. He had many sides, and each one eas explored well, often thanks to the most awesome Q.
Speaking of which, what was your favorite alien? Mine:
Klingons: I like their huge sense of honor, and admir their spirit, but I wonder how a race that loves to die in battle ever developed space flight, especially to be as advanced as they are.
Romulans: One cannot help but think of these guys as being like the humans of today. Crafty, looking for ways to gain power, and practicing fake diplomacy.
DS9 Baddies: THeir ships looked like roaches, and they were very similar to Klingons, except I would be less apt to dislike a Klingon
Q: My fav! He is so funny, and he is not that bad. His only bad thing was when he got the Borg around. But he has praised humanity as well as been condesending. I could have him as a friend. And his moral compass
Bajorian: LOSERS! Always complaining, and only few actually fight for their way of life. Whatever.
SPocks: Too logical and comletely without emotion would annoy me to no end. I have nothing against per say, but I dont think I could have them as a friend.
Borg: These guys remind me of the way society is heading. Lets all be the same and do the same thing. Sad. But I have to say their ability to adapt is impressive.. but even with all of their amassed technology, they are still no match against the Federation and its superior defense shields.
