Red face SourceForge Turning over new Leaf?

Hi

I know in the past sourceforge has been involved in some rather shady dealings, forcing a lot of opensource projects to abandon it.

Today I was on sourceforge and was surprised to see a bright new UI, further searching revealed this: https://sourceforge.net/blog/introdu...w-sourceforge/

Now I'm not saying they're to be trusted because of it but I'm impressed with some of the new features.

There's a lot of good projects on SF, it's disgusting to see an advertisement company destroy it. They'll have a hard row to hoe to gain what somebody else lost for them.

A person claiming to be from SF wrote here about their attempts to go back to the old ways and they claimed those malware deals are gone.

I would argue that it wasn't so much "malware" as it was "unwanted ware," the old "if you don't uncheck this we will install it" trick so favored in Windows world. As I remember, they only implemented it with Windows software, but it was well over a year ago.

Anyhow, this article from Ars Technical might help: https://arstechnica.com/information-...dness-in-past/

We had a thread going about the time of the acquisition in 2016 - one of the new owners joined in from memory. Said all the right things.
Seems to have been less animosity towards sf of late.
