SoundBlaster Live! 5.1

I saw this card on sale for $30 from $50 , so I might get it. I've read some reviews which seem good, but I want to get some other opinions too. Does anybody here have it, and if so, how good is it? Is the quality good? Iis there background hiss? etc. I checked the HCL and it seemed to check out good. Also, what software came with yours? I'm talking about the regular Live! 5.1, not the other editions like the Platinum/Gamer/Mp3. Thank You.

BTW, I posted this in general and not Hardware because it wan't really Linux related.

Ya. it's great and one of the most supported hardware in terms of sound cards. You won't repent. I haven't. The quality is excellent and there is no hiss. ATB.

The card sucks even during its time. Creative Labs cheaper sound cards sounds much better. The card also takes control of your system's bus so that it goes at a constant 33 Mhz. The Audigy cards are even worst. They dither sound to produce 24 bit at 96 Kilohertz.

Creative Labs higher grade sound cards are ok if you have crappy speakers or do not really care for system stability.

I suggest getting Turtle Beach Sant Cruz even though it costs 79 to 99 US dollars.

Well I got it yesterday, and it works well so far (with Windows and Linux).
I did have onboard sound, but the quality was pretty bad, and it was skipping/scratching, so I was figuring it might be on its way out. Even if it wasn't, I wanted to upgrade (plus it came with extra software), and I wanted to add a gameport to the system.
