Exclamation Someone hacked my Google account. What can I do?

Well, this is not a question I should ask on Linux Questions. But as a great community, I wish to get fellow Linux users opinions.

Yesterday someone hacked in to one of my Google account and changed it's password. But luckily because of my recover email, I've managed to get my Google account back. Now I wanna do something about that person who hacked my Google account. I only have that person's IP address, phone model what managed to get in to my Google account and that person's Google activities. I'm pretty sure it's not a hacker because hackers actually probably do not search "How to change Google password" online with victim's account.

All I wanna know, is there any possible way to get know who is that person and what can I do about him or her. Thanks.

First of all, turn on two-factor authentication.

You can report it to Google but realistically just tighten up security and move on with your life.

i think the ip address is pretty good.
contact the ISP for that address and tell them what's going on, provide all the additional info. i think they should be interested in dealing with it.

"person's IP address, phone model"

I'd have to wonder about the quality of that information. A good hacker would not let anyone have real information.

Even then, the IP is usually a pool. I'd bet it's an open wifi too.

I'd look to why it was possible to get. Do you have the same user and password across programs? (very common mistake)

The problem is Google not letting users easily manage their systems and leaving hundreds of millions with no or little updates. Let alone the user having ability to easily control OS and features as root.

For personal email accounts just do not use gmail or yahoo or any " free " email service!! Although, I sometimes have problems with Fastmail support, I stand by their security etc. which is not free; but it is reasonable!!
