So I was at this interview today...
 

Was being interviewed today and they asked me a a few questions about leadership and communication skills and on the resume I gave them, I had listed a few Open Source and Free Software projects.

They were a little confused because they asked where the company was located (: but I continued with answering there questions and ended up giving a big long shpeal about the importance of leadership, communication, orginization, etc. to the point were I felt I took over the interview.

What Im trying to say is... I've had many small 'monkey' jobs and none of them have taught me as much as volunteering my time to the open source and free software community. Not only do such projects/communities teach you leadership skills but the value of each and every skill you pick up along the way.

I think such communities will continue to grow lots of respect because of there productivity. You learn so much.. and have such a great time.

Just thought I'd share this expirience with you, it most certainly took the recruiters today by suprise and it made me really happy.

If only I could make a living off of doing things for free (:.

The Interview
 

Do you think it went well enough for you to get hired. I hate the interview process. They usually have someone who dosent understand your field at all asking irrelvant questions or they are only trying to get a charcater based opinon. BLAH. Anyway good luck on your hunting, and FYI some interviewers like it when you take over the conversation because the dislike the process as well and have nothing else to say. Input is good. stay kewl :cool:

A came up with the wacky idea of using LQ as a "tech reference", i.e. Mr/MS
intervew go to LQ search for pickedeans, you'll learn mor aout me and my
qualifcation there than from any past employers.

On a general note, I've actaully got 4 submittal via recruiter in the last week.
Maybe things are finaly lossening up a little ??

I haven't had a change to try it out yet :)
