Man... Korean gals, and lots of Japanese gals want nothing with M$, although within non M$ addict women of Japan, there is a bigger share of Mac users than in Korea or China... but still Linux takes the biggest share among non M$ in both countries...

EDIT: Probably in both these two countries, higher education is much more techie than in most of the other countries... this explains it...

Take my sister for example, she's a Medical Doctor, Psychiatrist, she's taking a Major in Computational Sciences, Artificial Intelligence...

From wiki.debian.org/DebianWomen:

Why are there so few women in the computer field / F/OSS?
There are a lot of theories about this, but no one can know for sure. However, Ellen Spertus has a wonderful paper, Why Are There So Few Female Computer Scientists? that will explain some of the cultural phenomena that might be a cause. Also, please read Val Henson's HOWTO Encourage Women in Linux.

I belong to the same mailing list as a woman who doesn't use an email program: she writes them in vi and dispatches them manually from the cli. Now that's a real Linux user!

Probably -- although I can't say for certain. Anyway, the Mods there are so evil there that I wouldn't recommend it.

A few girls from the dance studio I go to converted to Linux after their Windows machines got really slow and they noticed how fast and elegantly an old dinosaur at the studio is. When they ask how, I give them a LiveCD, tell them how to use it, and invite them to try it out. One of the girls even wrote a nice article about her experience, and offers some very good advice on "getting girls to use Linux." Amy's article is here. I now know several girls who use Linux!

I know a few. I'm a student and know a lot of people from the informatics program. (I don't study informatics though), but there are two that I know of that use Linux. Also in my local LUG there are one or two girls. I don't know them though. MY gf also use linux. Mostly because of me. She prefer it to windows, but she can't maintain herself, so if hadn't been around I'm guessing she would go back to windows.

Isn't there a "archgirl" or something as well in here?
