Slackware needs better marketing.

I ordered for Slackware subscription starting with Slack 10 on 25th of June 2004. So, far I have not received my CDs. I sent email enquiries regarding my CDs. So far no reply. Is there nobody to answer at Slackware Store?

I want to support Slackware financially because it is an excellent distro. But at the same time I expect good response to subscribers at least by email.

What has this to do with marketing ? Basicly is a complaint about delivery of goods you ordered and the lack of communication from their side. I think they have to chose: shipping cd's or answering emails And yes, I was disappointed more then once about email communications (bug reporting) in the past but we have to remember that Slackware is basicly a one man show (with help from volunteers) and that the resources to answer email will be little to none.

So be patient, it will be worth it

Whilst we are at it, it needs the website updating too. Two of the main contributors listed for maintaining Slackware aren't involved anymore as far as I can tell from their own websites. Still I guess there are only so many hours in the day!

The distro is excellent though.

I ordered mine on June 24th. Still waiting impatiently....

Moving this to General. Although Slackware related, it's not technical and is really about the shortcomings of their mail order system.

I am guessing that Patrick and friends are on holiday since the release of Slackware 10.0. Well deserve break.

By the way, there is a great download side (if you have broadband) at
This may satisfy your waiting till your CDs arrive.

Prompted by this thread, I emailed them today to ask about the status of my order. I received a response after a few hours to say that it was mailed on Friday and should be with me soon.

Yay for Slackware and their store.
