should I buy a DVD burner

I'm debating right now...do any of you have one? Do you find yourself using it alot? Right now I still have an old CDR 12X10X32. and was thinking of getting a faster CDRW drive for $40 or shelling out $100-$150 for a DVD multiformat drive

to state the obvious, it depends if you need it. i got an old 2x pioneer for about £40, and ive used it when i need to backup a lot of data. havent used it for anything else though

Hi.

I use mine for backups every two weeks, and I've made some DVD-Videos of some stuff for friends with mine.

If you've got anything over two CDs worth of stuff to backup or want to make video dvds, then I'd get one. Beats changing cds all the time. More distros are coming out on DVDs now too.

I use mine mainly for DVD back-up.

If your looking to buy a DVD burner go for a DVD-+R/RW they've come down quite a bit (bestbuy has one for under $150).

I'd use it to back-up data if I had an RW, but thats me all I have is an R/RAW. The RAW acts like a drag and drop hard drive, sounds nice until I saw they cost like $7-15 a piece.
