So whats the record for the shortest lifespan for a linux stable kernel release? It looks like 2.6.16.6 was only there for about an hour and 12 minutes.

I don't think you can count the '.x' releases as true stable releases. They're only bugfixes really.

From memory, 2.4.11 was only around for a day or so.

I've been searching around for 2.4.11 history, but haven't come up with much other than some complaints of SMP oops issues and the 2.4.12 changelog which doesn't seem to indicate super serious issues were at stake. I'm quite curious as to what damage 2.4.11 did. Anyone care to recount tales of the ancient kernel past to those of us who weren't involved back then?
