Setting up VLAN

Hi everybody,

I'm probably posting this question in the wrong place, but I don't know where else to ask it, here goes.

We have 2 3Com Baseline Switch 2928-HPWR Plus switches. On both we have 2 VLAN's (VID 1 and 2, 1 being the default VLAN)
Switch 1 and 2 are both connected on port 25, as long as all the ports are in VID 1 all works with no problem.

Now here's what we want to do and what goes wrong.
We have NIC 3 from a VMware hoste connected to port 18 on switch 2. On the VMware host we have a IPcop VM running with it's Red interface connected to NIC 3
On switch 1 we have connected our Internet connection on port 23.

I have created VLAN 2 with the following members switch 1; port 23 (untagged), port 25 (tagged). Switch 2; port 18 and 25 (tagged). On both switches port 25 ia also a tagged member of VLAN 1.

This setup works, but there is one thing which is going wrong and I can't figure out what it is. We have a LAN2LAN VPN running and with the above setup that workes just fine. The problem is that we can't connect to the Web GUI of switch 1 over the VPN connection, that only workes when we logon to the Web GUI from the local network.

My guess is that the problem is the untagged port 23 on switch 1, but when I change it to a tagged member the VLAN is no longer working.
Could somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong?
