I use the shred command. See: man shred Here is a thread that explains how to use shred against more than one file at a time. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=58016 -------------------------- Steve Stites |
Hey Dude! ...err... Windows-tools?
How would I know about these? I was under the impression that this was a forum to discuss linux-related questions - even if it's called "general"... I did not think a second about Windows - especially as you are using Slackware and Fedora Core 2 - according to your sig... Or did you mean a program which you operate throug a GUI ? - cant help with that eigter! |
shed would work on an old OS like windows 95. but since journeled file system became all the rage, shed will not guarantee than a file is wiped.
you pretty much have to nuke the partiton... delete the file, then dd if=/dev/urandom of=/somwhere/on/the/partiton/BIG.random rm /somwhere/on/the/partiton/BIG.random that will kill the file... but will take ages ona big disk. |
