searching better

Maybe I missed a sticky somewhere, but is there a guide to searching this forum better. I don't know what kind of booleans you would use. Like is AND and OR valid? Or should I use || and &&? Or is there any other tricks to it besides just entering a keyword?

edit:
*waits for some wiseguy to say STFW!*

Good Point

I've pondered the same question myself. I often get more relevant hits in this forum from google than I do searching the forum directly. If, for instance, I search for 'learn dd' - or '"learn dd"' or 'learn AND dd' using advanced search to search titles only - I get tons of worthless results because they have the word 'learn' in the title. What I actually wanted was the phrase "learn dd". Maybe I'm missing something on a better and more refined search syntax. I'd love to hear the answer, even if it does reveal my ignorance.
