SCIFI for Opensource

If you are wondering about the title SCIFI for OpenSource I can inform you that I'm posting this poll because I've written a couple of novels and couple of shorts in the SCIFI and Fantasy genre.

I am considering releasing them as some sort of e-book form as well as in the planned paper form, and as I'm going to donate proceeds from the sales of the above mentioned stories to support the efforts of globability.org I would like to know how many of you would actually consider purchasing a Scifi or a Fantasy book in support of a charity to help it in financing the move toward OpenSource.

Is paper preferable? - What in your view is a reasonable price for an e-book, or a paperback for that sake...

Remember this is not to be considered a regular publishing venture - The aim is to bring in funds for a charity and OpenSource so be very careful in comparing the prices of a regular publishing house to the suggested price.

I would appreciate your comments! - What do you feel about the idea?

I prefer paper, even I am not a big fan of SciFi :p

Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)

I prefer e-book, but there's one big problem for me. I mean paying for it. Well-known online payment systems are restricted to certain countries. It happend, that my country is not on the list what makes things much more difficult (and much more expansive).

Is your first name Leonord? lol

Well Mara - there is always the international money order.... I know it's snailmail but it'll get there eventually - And it will be an option....

Well BajaNick.... can't say that it is :) - Lenny does rock though

Heck, I thought the thread was about the SciFi Chanel supporting open-source software and I was going to say,... "WOW, I should re-think boycotting them since their dumb decision to cancel FarScape!!!" But as it turns out it was only about charities... :D

Oh well.

If a SCIFI book was good enough, I'd think about buying it as an e-book to support a charity... but I'd want a little recognition for it, like my name on a list of donors or something.

Sorry to disappoint you JaseP - Just me trying to get a feel for if I should go paper only or paper and e-book when I release my books and shorts in support of globability.

I feel for you on the FarScape issue though - too bad it got canceled... twas a fine show indeed.
