We know so little about this virus. They said washing hands would stop it. They said wearing a mask would stop it but really, where except China is it stopped? Matter of fact it is getting worse almost everywhere else. I'm sure any world leader, and many of them have tested positive, comes into direct and indirect contact with thousands of people each week. It shows that the security staff and the medical staff didn't prevent this. Wearing a mask might reduce viral load, washing hands might help spread to food or mouth, nose, eyes but nothing so far has proven to prevent spread. The US lakes are now showing traces, will it lead to mass wildlife deaths? Who knows just yet.

His previous doctor claims he has no comorbidities. He went on to say that 99% of people in his demographic recover fully.

Of course I noticed that the Biden team was the first to say that Biden was negative.

About 50 people where I work have had it. No one died. Only one seemingly very healthy guy was somewhat sick. All of them are back at work. They tended to be those over 50 too. Many with other conditions that normally might be an issue.

It is stopped, or at least held at bay, though perhaps not actually in retreat, almost everywhere but in Brazil, India, and the USA.

Remember, this was something entirely new. It should surprise no one that there have been contradictions and uncertainties and changes in advice and guidance as more has been learned about it, especially in the first few months and especially in situations in what such advice and guidance may have been influenced by considerations other than medical and scientific fact as known at the time the advice was given.

It will be a very long list.
Concentrating on any one occurence is missing the point - and always gives his supporters the opportunity to get into an argument.
No, it has to be one long list. The whole picture.
How many eff-ups and temper tantrums that occured in 2016/17 are virtually forgotten, because DT continually "trumps" his own incongruity and disregard for - erm, sanity? Common sense? In fact, any sense?

Yes, to the list, as it leads up to the main paragraph:

Trump has all his life posed a moral puzzle: What is due in the way of kindness and sympathy to people who have no kindness and sympathy for anyone else? Should we repay horrifying cruelty in equal measure? Then we reduce ourselves to their level. But if we return indecency with the decency due any other person in need, don’t we encourage appalling behavior? Don’t we prove to them that they belong to some unique bracket of humanity, entitled to kick others when they are writhing on the floor, and then to claim mercy when their own crimes and cruelties cast them upon the floor themselves?...

...The pandemic was not Trump’s fault, but at every turn, he made things worse than they had to be—because at every turn, he cared only for himself, never for the country. And now he will care only for himself again.

Ondoho, I'm no Trump fan but he isn't the "AntiChrist" many portray him to be. There are numerous leaders far more onerous than he and it is important to note that he is accomplished at misdirection - It keeps enemies off balance. There is considerable disparity between his public character and his actions. I deplore that he took the US out of the Paris Accord but I applaud his actions against China. I deplore that he held back when he apparently knew how dangerous Covid might be, but he was not the latest to lockdown. In fact he was earlier than many Democrats. Finally, we all must ask ourselves what manner of individuals are even motivated to be leaders of anything, let alone the most powerful nation in the world? It isn't "shrinking violets".

I'm extremely upset and disappointed with the choices the American people are offered, and though the debates went overall badly, Biden did at least give me some little confidence in his health and sanity but I don't want that despicable politician Kamela Harris anywhere near the Whitehouse. She is guilty of actively blocking acquittal of prisoners proven by DNA to be wrongly convicted, some who have served long terms already and unjustly, let alone their release and compensation. That demonstrates when given a choice between politics and justice for citizens, she picks politics and short-sighted self advancement every time.

Now.... how happy are you with your leaders?

I doubt he got it from VP Biden, most likely from Hope Hicks. The west wing has no social distancing nor for the most part wear masks so who know from where. I am sure some serious contact tracing is being done.
I think covid-19 has spread way beyong being traced by contact tracing. It is well and truly a case of "every man for himself".

The only things we can be sure about are:
1. Spreads by droplets, spit .. So wear masks to protect others. Range upto six feet - unless carried on by air circulation systems.
2. Incubation time is as long as 14 days.
3. IN THAT TIME EVEN IF YOU ARE AFFECTED BUT ASYMPTOTIC, YOU COULD BE SPREADING IT.
4. Vaccines are only in final stage. Vaccines may not givr life long protection.
5. It is flu after all AND SO IT CAN RECUR IN A RECOVERED PERSON.

This is the point, on one side we have a sociopath and the other a narcissist. No matter who wins we lose.

There's a failed far, far right wing Congressional candidate that claimed that but the indications are that it was likely the Supreme Court nominee's introduction ceremony in the Rose Garden that's where he picked it up. Several others have tested positive after attending that event. The nominee herself tested negative but her children were there and there are indications that children can be asymptomatic transmitters. Were they tested? It wouldn't surprise me if the answer to that is: no.

Anyway, he and the first lady live a healthy lifestyle. It is almost certain they will be just fine.
FLOTUS might live a healthy lifestyle but his diet is reputed to be pretty atrocious. He's got several things counting against him: age, weight, who knows what else (the results of his annual physicals seem to be classified Top Secret Umbra).

I was baffled when 4 years ago people used arguments like
"Trump is good because others are worse"
or
"Trump is good because H. Clinton is bad"
or
"Trump is good because Obama was worse"

Baffled, because I find each and every one of these arguments completely nonsensical. But this seems to be an accepted way of "talking politics" in the US of NA.

Some also said
"Trump is the smaller of 2 evils."
That even makes some sense, but these people got very quiet afterwards, seeing in action the "smaller evil" they elected.

It really is as simple as that.
_______________

I never even knew that he used to be a reality TV star, where apparently he made bullying into an art form.
I did know he wrecked half of his father's business long ago, and probably never could've done any of the things he did without daddy's money.
And now it appears that he is quite officially both a (tax) fraud and a losing business.
_______________

4 years ago somebody made a really good documentary about all sorts of things, amongst which also American "politics" and DT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fny99f8amM
Maybe it's time to re-watch it and marvel at how quickly we forget, how history keeps repeating itself, and how prophetic some of it was.

It isn't flu. Flu isn't caused by coronaviruses but by myxoviruses. The reason you can get flu multiple times is that these viruses are supermutators. Every year, the flu strains are different. That's why we need a new vaccine each year.

Coronaviruses mutate much more slowly and that has proved to be the case with the covid-19 virus too. There is no evidence that you can get covid more than once, but some unfortunate people get "long covid" with symptoms that can keep recurring. One man in Australia was initially thought to have been reinfected with covid-19 after testing negative, but they now think that the test was probably a false negative.

btw have people noticed that the most recent Trump photos show him with white hair? I wonder how the yellow colour managed to grow out so fast. Or did he just wash it out?

OOps! Maybe it's a toupe.

Wow! 28 Posts already!

This one from eight.bit.al https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rX7wtNOkuHo is the very essence of schadenfreude. The word refers to joy or pleasure caused by the misfortune of others.

The much remarked on 'Poetic Justice' is a more diplomatic version. One Chinese guy tweeted (Or was it Weibo?)that Trump had finally tweeted something positive. I also saw one Australian remark that the Trump family had more cases of community transmission than the entire state of Queensland.

It's only a spectator sport to me anyhow. I don't get affected by whoever the Excited States elect.

I am no friend of Trump, or politics in general regardless of party. Personally I don't believe it. My tinfoil hat tells me it's a scam. He will be fine till the election, then if he loses he will "die" from it and have a very private burial... in which he is put on a plane and taken somewhere there is no extradition treaty to be woken up from his medically induced coma. If he's elected he will recover amazingly fast, faster than anyone knew was possible. Some may find this to be a conspiracy theory. With everything we've seen in the past decade though, is it really that hard to believe as possible?

For the record I would expect this from any politician really, either side. Trump just seems more slippery than others though.
