Lightbulb running a MAC nativly on my PC i think its possable!!

hi i have just come accross something but im not sure if it would work or why i would want to do it but i might tyr it.

i was looking on linuxiso.org and came across DARWIN which if im right is the base system for mac! (please tell me if im wrong) and they had DARWIN for a i386 system! so if i was to load it on my system i think i would only get a command line but it would be the mac system i think so from there would it be possable if i had a copy of a mac OS would i be able to then load the rest of the mac software on top of it so in effect i would be running mac on my pc.

from what i think i know it would be tricky but possable

can anyone comment on this to wether or not it would be possable?
if it is i am going to try it i imagin it could be pretty intresting having a mac on a PC

As far as I know, Darwin is indeed the base Mac OS X system, though I doubt if Apple left it unmodified. So Mac OS X might not be fully compatible (if it is at all) with the darwin version you mention. Though your idea doesn't sound that bad. If I would know it works, I'm definitely gonna try it out myself.

If you can get a cheap version of Mac OS X somewhere, I'd say give it a try

once again this comes up and once again the answer is the same: it is not possible to install os x on pc without powerpc-processor-emulation. if you install darwin, you only get the kernel. os x is compiled for power pc, not x86.

the newest version isnt compiled for i86 but the 6.02 version is and the 1.4.1 version is! mac oxs might not run but an earlyer version of mac might run on it, i am going to have a look for mac osx and erlyer on ebay right now i think

Berrance, it doesn't matter how long you look back in the history of MacOS -- It's all compiled for the PPC platform... You'll get your darwin kernel. But you can't load OSX or any other MacOS on top of it, bro.

Not without ppc emulation, anyway.

Just like everybody said: It's not possible to run MacOSX in a PC without emulation, because the binaries are always compiled for the processor. It's also the reason that you can't run a PS2 game on the Xbox... the games are compiled for the processor in question. Also, Darwin is the basis of MacOSX and OpenSource'd, but MacOSX Aqua theme is copyrighted and you should not be able to use that anyway.

You could try creating a custom distribution and make a similar GUI of MacOSX, that would be way more possible and much cooler (even though, KDE and Gnome actually can look OSX'ish).

If you are still not convinced, I wish you luck either way

Hi berrance!

I've found a little thing for you that you might like if you want to run OSX in an "affordable" Mac system. There's a new product from Apple called Mini Mac:

http://www.apple.com/macmini/

it's a very small and affordable Mac from Apple, with MacOSX. I must to say that I'd really like to have one, but I'm still pretty broken :\

Totally in agreement here. Their design rocks. If they were not so pricey, they'd surely get much more attention around. Maybe Mac mini will change it a bit
