I'm not sure how you managed to get beyond reading even three or four of those... without your brain turning to mush?

That site has always been a domain for halfwits.

The posters dismissing EEE and surmising about "context", have clearly not read anything about the United States vs Microsoft Corporation antitrust case?

Many of these shouty types have no concept of how business works.

It seems to me that all RMS said was that the man who had sex with her had no way of knowing that she'd been coerced into it as she seemed to be willing. That was probably true. She'd been instructed by Epstein to seem willing or else! Prostitutes are coerced by their pimp, not by their customers.

It's a pity some SJWs don't read more carefully before they start twittering.

"SJWs" never do. They run on outrage and kneejerk reactions and then consider their actions after the fact.

This is not Stallman's first collision with the professionally offended:

The infamous glibc manual abortion joke:

https://lwn.net/Articles/753647/

The "transgender activist" who removed their project from GNU:

https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/l.../msg00036.html

Same "transgender activist" detailing how they intend to rejoin GNU and apologise to Stallman, etc...

This is appearing more likely to be the case of Microsoft or other corporate interests (but mainly Microsoft) needing to sever the head before they consume the carcass. Consider for a moment, who is the torch bearer of FOSS/FLOSS with Stallman gone? It's also a valid concern for the kernel, Linus (so we are told) has prevented three letter agencies from placing backdoors in the kernel... Will they be able to do this if Linus stepped down or was removed?

Its also clear to me that these other Free Software movements are jockeying for position to replace the FSF and have been doing so for some time. Are they agents for Microsoft?

Meanwhile Gates who had actual ties to Epstein and donated money on his behalf, traveled to his island, flew on his plane (apparently) is still enjoying his freedom and I am sure enjoying seeing Stallman removed. I do not recall anyone calling for Gates to be arrested or forced to step down from his Foundation(s) when he laid out plans to reduce the worlds population via Vaccinations, Healthcare and "Reproductive Health Services". Hear it from his own words at a Ted Talk and various interviews: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BobKXkrt8M

PS: Look how quick the GNU community is to turn hide on Stallman, that is what is most sickening.

One thing that is still rather unclear to me, why did RMS choose to so quickly fall on his own sword for what essentially started as poor reading comprehension?

Perhaps he is simply tired of being the increasingly isolated voice patiently explaining the ideals of Freedom as applied to software, to an audience which could not care less, and watching all the gains of past years being trampled by the growing mob rushing to grab the latest goodies tossed from the corporate carnival float. Or perhaps he has concluded that it is pointless to contend with unreasonable and disingenuous people on their own playing field.

Whatever his reasons, he has clearly decided it is time quit. I thank him for his consistent message on personal freedom in the information arena and all the benefits I have enjoyed from his work, and wish him well in the future.

Well, I guess he or whoever wrote it interpreted the emails quite differently than I did.

Curious how emotional I was about this last night. There are plausible off-topic reasons for that emotion, the emotion that should have been available for a recent family occurrence but somehow lost its way or could not be dislodged, instead popping off now and winding back to me for this event that has next to nothing to do with me. But it would be exhibitionism to explain less enigmatically if it's not already. Writing to strangers on the internet makes little sense at the best of times, but what was all this.

Maybe I will skip a year of donating to the SFC. I'll see how I feel in December when it's time to renew. It's probably wrong, though. If I'm finding it profane to character assassinate based on moral outrage or to put wishes to shape the wider world above personal decency, then maybe I should not behave that way myself. Bradley Kuhn and Karen Sandler did not stop, when they published that statement, being the people, like rms, who I admired and liked from afar from listening to their podcasts and speeches. I hate the statement, but there's no reason to hate the people who made it. It's only one of the things they have done.

The SJWs role becomes even more questionable:

Quote:
Minsky is dead and canít defend himself, but physicist/SF author Greg Benford, who I know and am inclined to trust, writes:

Typical Crap Journalism from NYT:

ďIn a deposition unsealed this month, a woman testified that, as a teenager, she was told to have sex with Marvin Minsky, a pioneer in artificial intelligence, on Mr. Epsteinís island in the Virgin Islands. Mr. Minsky, who died in 2016 at 88, was a founder of the Media Lab in the mid-1980s.Ē

Note, never says what happened. If Marvin had done it, she would say so. I know; I was there. Minsky turned her down. Told me about it. She saw us talking and didnít approach me.

It's looking more like the SJWs are repeatedly being played as tools to take down top FOSS leaders to remove barriers to human rights encroachment while also disturbing the market. As I wrote much earlier above, this circus against RMS is mainly a distraction against investigating Bill Gates who is, along with massive amounts of money, tangled up with Epstein and a little with MIT. The delay buys time for Bill's reputation management teams. Remember also why Bill's mansion was raided a few years back and what they did find...

This is how a lot of such people triumph in fights - they relentlessly hound and harangue their opposition till they give in, because it's a lot easier to let their nemeses have their way than to stand up for themselves. The SJWs are winning, they have the anger and the relentless energy, and a lot of the old guard just don't have the mettle anymore.

Barristan Selmy: Here, boy! [Selmy defiantly throws the sword down at the foot of the Iron Throne]
Melt it down and add it to the others. [Selmy stalks out of the courtroom]

I've actually proposed a Political Incorrectness Day for Sept. 16 or Oct. 1 in response.

Childish? Yes. It's never a great idea to stoop to their level, but then it really isn't-- they're doing this to control and manipulate people. Political Incorrectness Day would be to have fun and defend an institution-- literally. It's time the entire internet stopped getting its panties in a twist over every faux pas-- is there a war on? Sorry, sorry-- I meant "its underwear." We've certainly come a long way since the "Wild West" days of the internet.

Did you write a Techrights entry on this? I would support you on this, though the 'terms' would have to be clarified. Would it be all-out no-holds-barred self-expression or would there be some topics and points of view vetoed [I suggest the latter, to a small extent]? And what would the platform be?

That is why I'm surprised RMS resigned - he always seemed like an almost 'immovable object', never yielding to such nonsense, though obviously he has his limits. I don't think even SJW anger is an unstoppable force, so did he finally tire of it or was there something else going on behind the scenes?

Either way, if the aim was to get him out of the way, the fact they didn't find any real dirt to use is a compliment to him.
