Recomend IRC servers and #rooms ??

Online forums are great, but sometime syou want a real time discussion,
i tried a few Yahoo chat rooms like Porgramming / Genral comuting / Operating systems / Hacker.

but found them to be full of script kiddies, asking questions like "How do you hack"
"how to you hack into a password proetected site" IDIOTS.

anyways.... the great thing about IRC, is that hopefully, most idiots dont use it too much.
or dont know how.

but i can never find a decent server / room with people actually responding.

can anyone surgest some good rooms for Linux in general / hardware / Programming / Software development ???

thankyou.

go to freenode - tons of very active rooms - #slackware, #debian, #gentoo, #freebsd, etc.... just run a search on "linux"

and yes, I agree - avoid any rooms associated with yahoo
