Ram Upgrade
 

Hello. My question is quite simple..

I have 2 sticks of this ram in my computer http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...p?Sku=M56-1900

Now I need to replace one of them, but I do not know what the specs on the new ram have to be. Is the memory type the only thing that matters as far as compatibility with the motherboard, or does the new ram also have to have the same number of pins?

Any help is appreciated.

If the specs listed in the link is what you need then that is what you should get. You need ddr ram as for the pc2100 is the bus speed. If pc2100 are not available then pc2100 or larger in number should be fine. The ram will always regress to the slowest stick. But will only be as fast as the motherboards bus can do.

You absolutely need the same type of ram (DDR) with the same number or pins or it won't even fit your motherboard. It also needs to have a clock frequency supported by your motherboard. If you have the manual to your motherboard, check that. If you don't, get the same clock speed.

I'm not trying to promote or talk you into getting memory by Kingston, but a quick search of memory speed, type, and pins returned these results:
