What is a memory catch. I was trying to find an actual definition for this but no luck.

Perhaps you mean cache(The term catch is almost never used to my knowledge anyways...)? Anyways cache is intermediate memory that has extremely fast access speed which is used as a go between the processor(usually but not always) and slower physical memory. If you want to get into how it actually works and how data is scheduled into cache well that is another whole book in it's own right.
