In many ways, "the winners of World War 2" haven't gotten over it yet. And, they never really dropped from the "war footing" of those days, instead remaining content to endlessly expand their own armies and navies. (But no one came close to doing this to the extent that USA has done.)

Nevertheless, that leaves the rest of the world. South of the Mediterranean, too-much east of Italy, anywhere-at-all south of Texas, and so on. Within that comfy little enclosure, the professed superiority (and universal acceptance) of "my currency-unit" prevails. Outside of it, however, "not so much."

The ethic of national autonomy, which was taken for granted in the late 19th and early 20th century, has simply evaporated. We live in a world where every "other" nation is simply expected to produce goods cheaply, to never ask for environmental or human-rights reforms, and to accept the American Dollar. (And to also accept currency exchange rules which make these Dollars, which the US Government literally invents, acceptable "on par" with yours.) It doesn't seem necessary to take precautions. It doesn't seem worth considering that maybe your nation ... every nation ... should strive to deal with others from a position of strength. That "just in time," "lowest bid," and "sole sourcing" might actually become national defense issues.

And a multi-millionaire real estate mogul won't know anything about what that means, either.

My simple assumption is, that it would be just if the rich countries be a little poorer and the poor countries be a little richer.

But even in Germany, which I condsider an enclave of wealth in the world, that will produce unrest, because there are still lots of people who don't really have that much, but are considered even poor (not in global standards though!)

I think in the US the capital concentration is even worse, and presumably there are much larger percentages of population who really do have very little.

But nevertheless there are countries much more poor.

And we sell them a lot of our weapons to make a good living, and probably try to get their resources. Like we fish the fish of Africa away at their coast. That is really cynic. Anyway I still prefer an Obama or a Merkel over many African politicans. TSome of them seem to be a bunch of mobsters.

I don't have a problem with a woman being the President, but I do have a problem with Shillery.

I'll just leave this here

The woman I would like to see as president is Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts. Both Hillary Clinton and Ted Cruz are the candidates controlled by Wall Street and they should never be given any control over anything!!

People are people, where as education, food and shelter are not. Gasoline won't put out a fire.

As I have said before, like it or not, you probably are looking at America's next president.

Basically, "The Two Party System, Inc.," as the blanket organization which has controlled both the Republican ("red™ brand") and Democratic ("blue™ brand") parties for all these many years, has utterly lost its way. People don't believe in either of them anymore, especially not young people, who can plainly see how ruthlessly they are being screwed while the only actual response by the rulers is: "Let Them Eat Cake.™"

A flamboyant person, known for "You're Fired!!" on national television, and who by-the-by has enough money himself to run an independent campaign if necessary (and win it ...), is exactly the catharsis that a frustrated electorate thinks it needs.

TPS, Inc. has done a very poor job of branding, in the case of both of its two brands. They still can't decide whether the blue box should contain a colorless "Clinton," or a man who's frankly too old to run. Per contra, Donald Trump knows precisely who he is. His brand is clear, strong, compelling, and, in his own way, l-e-a-d-i-n-g. The power brokers can't get ahold of him, because ordinarily their means of control is "access to money," and Donald Trump has an abundance of personal cash.

The people whom TPS would otherwise give the nomination to, are colorless dolts by comparison. I think that TPS realizes that they don't have control of this situation anymore.

The beauty and the horror of Donald Trump is that he tells people what he thinks they want to hear, and his genius is knowing precisely what that is. He has done a better job of reading the GOP base than anyone in the party and, ever the salesman, he is selling himself in the image of his electorate's values.

Trump's populist message on the economy, trade deals and national security (he was against the Iraq war and appears to be largely non-interventionist) coupled with a generous dose of racism, sexism, and xenophobia is the most accurate portrait we have of what Republican voters actually think, feel and want to see represented. And many in the Republican leadership, perhaps sensing that this is a losing general election strategy, are by turns discouraged and embarrassed.-Lucia Graves
