I think the fact that it only has 256mb ram will be limiting for future linux desktop use.
However part of the reason I'm running Linux solely is the fact that I would love to get it running on either three of the upcoming consoles. I thought about getting a mac mini but decided to wait instead and AGAIN avoid MacOS (especially due to MacIntel).
I have been waiting for the resurgance of fixed platform computing like the old Commodore days. The advantages far outway any negatives with home users in mind. Linux will really shine on a fixed platform imo.
I find having to upgrade pc 3d gfx cards each year to play current games a TOTAL waste of money. As we've seen with the PS2 or any console, games developers learn to push the hardware to its limits over time.
One of the beauties of the Amiga was people using their own trackloaders for games and such which hit the hardware directly and didn't rely on the OS. Playing games in any OS is such a waste of system resources anyway and ruins the overall experience.
Bring it on!!
