Hey, thanks

Actually I've switched the title to LQ Addict atm, coz I can't be a true Guru without having done a kernel compile, can I

1000 posts and you've never compiled a kernel!!!!!!

My friend, you must get the source and experience the joy.

There is no greater satisfaction than a kernel well compiled, simply because of the personalised boot messages. Line 1 of dmesg:
Code:
Linux version 2.4.20 (bulliver@badcomputer) (gcc version 3.2.3) #1 Mon May 12 15:43:50 PDT 2003
That's me at my computer

I'm sure that one could easily reach, say 7 thousand posts and never successfully changed their PS2 variable. Some things just aren't important when compared to others

Cool

root@masterc~:

Or whatever. So it says something like:
root@MasterC~:

That's a lot of typing btw from the quick reply box

Cool

the best is compiling a new kernel and overwriting your current modules only to find you goofed up the kernel and now your machine won't boot.... (yea, I did that)

Oh I get it. The username is Proud! Not like, "I'm proud to be a guru" but rather "Proud is a guru".

Boy that took me a while to figure out.
