I beg to differ. I consider semicolons very appropriate in prose; they join sentences together.
I didn't mean to say that they are incorrect....I just think they look funny in "spoken" sentences. The dots seem more natural...particularly for me, since I'm a slow talker and I often pause in my speech while I ponder the best way to say what I'm thinking.

Dots tend to be common on lists as the language used here tends to be somewhat informal, like speech, so trailing dots suggest what you feel you don't need to say or to show an extended pause maybe.

I prefer lots o paragraphs

I often wonder how many millions of words I've typed on forums like this. I can count how many million I might have written in novels and such, but it's been more here. You get a style you tend to use after a while and stick to it - and to hell what anyone else thinks

My primary concern is typing this message in the shortest possible time...
