Problems while Java installation [RPM] in Linux
 

Hello All,

I have to install JDK .5 version in My Redhat linux Box. I have downloaded the following JDK versions.

1. jdk_1_5_01_06-linux-RPM.bin
2. jdk_1_5_01_06-linux.bin

But I cant install those installation files. In Installation guide, its described as follows:

If u want to install jdk_1_5_01_06-linux-RPM.bin, user must be Root. For the Second One, there is no user Role limitations.

I did that but both installations not getting completed.

I have converted these file into Unix mode and chmod. Installation started and its asking User license. After that its doing unpacking and checksumming follows. While doing checksumming, it says as follows,

The downloaded file appears to be corrupted. Please refer to the troubleshooting section of the installation Instructions on the downloaded page for more information.

Please do not attempt to install this archive file .....



Anybody can help me on this?

If your file is corrupt, you have to download it again.

Yes, I agree my Installation files are corrupted. i have downloaded those installation files about five times again and again and tried with that. But there is no effect.

That installation files downloaded from java.sun website and there is no more Java installation files for linux. I have tried with all java installations avaailaable in Java website.

Anybody can let me know about some tips to install java RPM in my Linux box....I dont know this problem related with Java Installation files
or with linux. Please help me out.

can try downloading apps in self-extracting executables eg. *.bin , sometime they are better than rpm packages and such ... as for this jdk*.bin , i think it just deflate to a single java directory in the current directory where you execute it , you can move it to your prefered location and set the proper env. var. accordingly ...

Try using a download manager like wget, kget or d4x.

since someone had successfully downloaded apps with kget and such for ages , i think you should give them a try too ...
