Price of second hand Sun hardware?

I am interested in buying a second-hand Sun workstation, because I'd like to experiment and tinker with their UltraSparc CPU and architecture. Of course the first place to get one is ebay, but I'm not much of an expert in their price. So my question is: does the second-hand price of that hardware change much over time? I mean, will it conceivably go up or down much in the near future?

As a reference, I am in the UK, so I am bound to buy hardware locally to avoid spending a fortune in customs and postage...

Oh, and I would install Linux on it, of course!

Moved: This thread is more suitable in General and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

This is because it's about buying a piece of hardware, regardless of it's use at the end.

Its going to nosedive like normal. I snagged an Ultra5 about 3 years ago for $300 US, today you would pay about $100. My guess is that a good Ultra60 could be had for around 150 Pound, but that's a guess. If you want to look up drjimstuckinwin in the membership registry and shoot him an email, I think he would be happy to give you a few hints on sparc hardware in the UK.

Cheers,

Finegan

From what little I know about Sun hardware, it looks reasonably cheap.

Hope this helps,

And from what I saw on Ebay, it *definitely* looks cheaper. Thanks, Lim45!

No probs, hope you get fixed up. BTW, I've bought a couple of items from them, and the service is pretty good, too.
