I'm sorry, I may have this wrong, but the first post appears to be asking if anyone plays pocket pool....!
Or is it a translation into English problem?

i thinks its quite clear that killer_bunny is talking about the game of pool like snooker and billiards and not what XavierP and Blinker_Fluid seem to think.
i play both 8 and 9 ball pool im not very good but am ok, ive tried to play snooker but i dont like it. never played billiards before. i play with a 2 piece snooker que, about 1.5 meters long with a 10mm tip, that ive had for almost 2 years.

It's been a while since I have played pool - in keeping with the English tradition, it was in a pub, most of us had been there a while and it was 'winner stays on'. The guy I beat always liked to make out he was an excellent player - mainly to intimidate. About a week later he was arrested for a serious bit of GBH - with a guy who beat him at pool.
I haven't been back since.

I play infrequently now, but i used to be fairly talented when i played alot. Use a Tempest cue, which i have found to be a huge help as it really help with control. Actually, now i feel like playing....funny how that happens.

I seem to get better after having a few drinks. I really piss my opponent off when I'm just hitting them as hard as I can and they just seem to go in the pocket I'm aiming for, looking as if I'm not even trying...

After a few drinks, you seem to get better at all games (except computer games). Maybe it's because you have more assurance.

"few" is the operative word here ;-)
My friends have a table and I play several times a week, I've gotten' good over the past year, but good is always a relative term. I find that I'm not as good when I'm sober as after a couple beers or other drinks. The hard part is knowing when the drinking has started to screw up your game. I always seem to be 2 or 3 drinks off on that one
I was watching a match on TV (the telly for you English blokes ;-) ) ...
Two women that made me realize that what I consider good is just plain god-awful in some circles.
Luv playin' tho..
I do believe I might just be good enough to join a league soon.
Steve

I enjoy pool, but I don't get too many opportunities to play it so I'm pretty mediocre right now. I was completely unaware there were even different cue balls. Maybe "cue" means pool stick. If so, I'm too much a novice to use anything other than a basic pool stick.
Fun game though. It's something everyone should do at least once in a while.
