Please suggest a simple, Easy-to-use blog

I've decided that I need to set up a blog area on my website to serve as a place where I can post my community newsletters and also miscellaneous stuff of interest regarding Linux and other technical articles.

What I need is a simple blog. Not a CMS. I've been searching around for some time and I've come up with bblog (www.bblog.com).

Can anybody give me any more suggestions and the relative features/merits regarding other blog software.

I've googled around for information, but I'm not able to find places where different features and qualities of blog software are compared.

My requirements are simple:
  1. Allow me to create a simple, single-user blog with commenting (guest commenting is enough).
  2. Has enough variety of templates.
  3. Allows email notifications or RSS feeds if possible.

That's about all. Most of the blog software I've seen are feature-rich except bblog. bblog seems to be fine for me (I'm testing it offline now), but I'd like to know a few opinions of this and other blog softwares that are around.

NOTE: I'm setting up the blog on my own site and so I don't need a service like blogspot or blogger.

Do you simply wish to avoid having you blog hosted at blogspot? I believe that blogger gives you to option of publishing via FTP to you own hosting space.

You're right. I want a stand-alone blog that is hosted on my own website. That's why I'm trying to choose a PHP blog script rather than a blog hosting service.

So Blogger is another free option? Thanks, I'll look into it.

Thanks for suggesting WordPress. Of course, its quite feature rich but the advantage is that I can make it as feature rich or not as I want.

One question though: Where do I get more themes for this? The default one is not to my taste.

Thanks for that link

I found a few good themes that I can try. In the meantime I'm uploading Wordpress to my website. I've already checked it out offline and it seems to be quite a powerful content tool - not merely a blog. A good option.
