PayPal problem

Hello,

Im trying to access my PayPal account but its asking for my old phone number (which I no longer have). I cant even look at the contact us page, they're just blank (tried firefox and palemoon).

I did look on the net for a number for PayPal, but it rang a few times then cut me off.

Has anybody else had this issue?

For me it asks for email and doesn't have a phone number option. It also has a link if you aren't sure what email you used and it lets you enter up to 3 emails that it possibly may be. From there, assuming one of them you have and can access, you get a link to reset. They have a pretty elaborate help wiki which you find using a general search string "reset paypal password".

What URL are you trying to access?
Have you checked browser extensions?
Have you checked browser console?

Alternatively, try and find a direct link to the live web chat functionality, since that's where the contact page will eventually direct you to.

The phone number check comes after you've verified the email.

(If you went through the full process and didn't get prompted, then it has some criteria of whether it shows - maybe only if you have a phone number on file, or haven't used the account in a while, or something else).

FWIW, I've had some fairly unusual situations with paypal over the years, and I've always found they come good with a direct email. It's helpful if they know the full situation, but if you have your payment details, you can always just open another account anyhow.

To give you an example of odd situations: I had stolen stock sold to me over Ebay. The item phoned home, divulged it's serial number, and the manufacturer gave me notice that they were going to shut my item down remotely.

I replied with an Ebay transaction number, a Paypal transaction number, a seller ID. I informed them that if they were genuine, get onto Paypal with evidence the goods were stolen, and Ebay/Paypal would play ball and divulge information usable by police. I also copied Paypal and Ebay with this.

Upshot was, Paypal refunded the payment. The manufacturer didn't shut down the item (which is pretty useless anyway). The seller was either a thief, or a fence. I never found out about the police investigation, but really, it isn't my business.
