Overclocking a Pentium 200 w/MMX
 

Hi,

I have a Micron Millenia MXE + with a Pentium 200 cpu. I was wondering how I would go about overclocking this machine. Heres some variables that im working with at the momemt -

The motherboard has a jump where you can set the bus speed to 60 or 66 MHz (currently set to 66 MHz obviously to achieve the 200 MHz from the processor)

66 MHz is the highest I can go on this board, there is no 75 or 83 MHz jumpers.

The Phoenix BIOS doesn't have any way of switching the cpu voltage from 2.8V to 2.9V lets say.

So what im wondering is, is it possible to overclock this system? I will include the specs for it incase you are wondering.

192 mb of ram
16 ATI Rage Pro pci graphics card
3 Harddrives
2 modems

O/C the system bus - good if your PCI devices can handle the over 33MHz or you can clock-down your PCI bus. Good overall performance.

O/C the CPU - OK, but aside form the voltage there's thermal issues, and the only real performance boost is in CPU-intensive operations.

As for your particular mobo - check hardocp or tomshardware.

You might have better luck finding info on how to overclock your board at one of these sites, or 1 of their affiliates.

I found that I can get my FSB up to 216mghz DDR, without any extra cooling though, or adding voltage.

Well, I don't about what you have, but I have an old HP that has a 200Mhz Pentium with MMX. I've overclocked it and it barely did anything. It wasn't even worth opening the computer for it.

I would think your mobo would have a jumper to set the clock multiplier. For example, your 66mhz bus is running a 200 mhz processor. That means the multiplier if set at 3. 66*3=200. If you change the multiplier to 3.5, you'd be running at 233 mhz. I'm pretty sure this would work without changing the voltage. Check your mobo manual for details.

Well, if your mobo doesn't have jumpers, then you might be able to change the settings using the softmenu in the bios. The bios is where you're starting up your computer and it say "hit del to setup" or something similar. There Might be an option in bios to do this since your mobo is jumperless. If not, i think your S-O-L :)
