Optimal Hardware Config for Media Ripping

What would you recommend? I not understand that the speed of your CD-ROM has NOTHING to do with CDDA Extraction :(

I'd like to build a machine dedicated to rip audio CDs, any suggestions?

Seems like a Multi Processor gives a little overhead - like that.

Highest rip speed i can get on a 52x Lite-on CDROM w/ scsi emulation (on a 2ghz p4) is 4x :( want more!!!!

there are a lot of things you can do to make mp3 conversino from cd faster, how are you doing it at the moment (you give abolsutey no infomaration on this....) if you disable scratch detection, paranoia AND extra paranoia in cdparanoia then it will normally copy from cd about 4 times faster. issues after this are generally based around the processor power you have available
