Hi: I downloaded an Android distribution through this link.I had to install a Windows OS to install the distro. Now, I have the four primary partitions occupied. Extended, two partitions for Windows 7, and one for Android. And now the only way to start Android is by starting windows first (the windows bootloader). I tried to boot it through lilo, but then Android said: NO BOOTMGR. Is it necessary to have Windows in order to install Android (on a PC)?
I used Linux to install Android iso first to usb. Made it bootable. Then install it, Android which is on the usb. To my netbook.
For the 4 primary partition thing. I renamed one of my primary partitions in Windows. The big "C" drive. To extended/logical.
Then shrunk it Windows and did a chkdisk when done to make sure Windows still booted.
What I used to rename my partition in Windows from primary to logical/extended was.
Referring to your other thread about installing android on a netbook/laptop, I meant to ask you if it has a touch screen. If so, you probably can install an x86 version of the original OS instead of Remix. I mean there are lots of tablets out there with an x86 atom processor running real Android. I recently bought one for my son because of the better performance for gaming.
You don't have to have a touchscreen to run Android. It uses a mouse just fine.
+1. It took me awhile to find out to shut down. I needed to treat my touchpad like a finger stroke. Swipe down from top of screen with the mouse cursor . To get a shutdown button screen layout. For the longest time. I was powering off my install by pressing the power button.
Thinking that was how a android phone powers off. I have a Iphone so you can see my flawed logic in thinking this.
