I need some "Linus" (not LinuX) help !!!
How does Linus Torvald earn money through kernel.org?
If this is his hobby, how does he earn penny for his life?
He continued, "Transmeta has always been very good at letting me spend even an inordinate amount of time on Linux, but as a result I've been feeling a little guilty at just how little "real work" I got done lately. To fix that, I'll instead be working at OSDL, finally actually doing Linux as my main job."
OSDL (Open Source Development Lab) describes itself as "a non-profit, global consortium of leading technology companies dedicated to accelerating the adoption of Linux."
OSDL appointed computer industry veteran Stu Cohen as CEO in April. NewsForge interviewed Cohen on April 21.
OSDL is sponsored by Linux-interested companies including Alcatel, Cisco, Computer Associates, Dell, Ericsson, Force Computers, Fujitsu, HP, Hitachi, IBM, Intel, Linuxcare, Miracle Linux Corporation, Mitsubishi Electric, MontaVista Software, NEC Corporation, Nokia, Red Hat, SuSE, Toshiba and VA Software. (NewsForge is owned by VA Software.)
Oh. So alli_yas and my own posts do not matter since we are not senior members nor moderators? I regret having replied in the first place.
I sympathise. The only qualifcation for being a Senior Member (which can be translated as Old Dick ) is to have made 1000 posts. Many members who have not made 1000 posts (they are new members, they have better things to do, they get out more ...) are very knowledgeable and at least this Senior Member gets plenty of things wrong; just search for posts including "oops" or "sorry" from catkin.

Thicken your skin a bit. Your post was OK. Some just don't understand nor try to find the answers themselves. Add International and society to that an you will find a lot of the post(s) can be misinterpreted by all.

Shucks!
I thought he was speaking about 'Senior' in the age sense.
If the post count shows or indicates someones abilities then that would be only in that same person has nothing more than wishing to share the 'Senior' experiences.
Now I have to weigh my response with wise sage senior modality preposition statement. Here I was thinking that Intelligence, knowledge along with working experience was my reasoning for helping someone.
Boy, this LQ membership is a real learning experience for someone of my age.
This Senior member tries not to get to many things wrong! Try as I may there are times that Murphy's Law is applicable.
Speaking as a moderator of all things on and off LQ, posts #2, #3 and #6 are all correct. I am doubly able to say this because I was a Senior Member ('Guru' in the old language) before becoming a mod. I am all wise.
And I am now reporting this for a move to big General by the power of my wisdom.
My first lesson is this:
Send me $50 (or equivalent local currency) and I will teach you the secrets of gaining wealth quickly. With chants and mantras and stuff.
Here you go: "This is a really weird thread. It somehow reminds me of my two collies fighting with each other over whose turn it is to bark at the postman."
