OMG ! WIN XP is 200$

I am putting a gaming system together for my friend and didnt want to use XP but i might have to cuz the newer video cards dont say they support 98. When i went buy XP i found out it costs 200$ I almost SH** my pants. The upgrade is 90$ though. I might have to install my 98 then get the XP uprade. ( waiting for links to my other posts calling me a hipocrit) lol.

Its always been about $200 dollars for XP and even 2k. There isn't anything new with Microsoft prices and their OS's. Even Win98 was at one time like $179.00 for full version..

You don't need to install Win 98 to use the upgrade version of XP. Just start the install of XP, and it will prompt you to put your 98 CD or install media into the computer. Upgrading by placing XP over Win 98 would likely cause terrible problems.

BTW: Win98 sucks. All Win9x sucks. And that especially includes ME, the worst OS ever made.

My 98 works perfect cuz im using 98lite and i never get BSOD or illegal program operations like i used to and its really fast due to unistalling Explorer. I only use it for gaming.

If you are the City of Munich and make a big noise while deciding whether to switch the entire city government to Linux then Microsoft will offer you Windows XP for about $20 per copy.

(Munich went Linux anyway even though Microsoft underbid SuSE.)

BajaNick,

Check www.csfo.com - they're out of Portland, OR. You should be able to find XP OEM for around $99.00, not counting shipping...
