As brilliant and open-minded as the US Founding Forefathers were, and Patrick Henry was one of the more revolutionary, anti autocratic of them all, they were all of their time. I have researched this deeply and especially read books and correspondence by Patrick Henry, and he, like almost all of them, considered "citizens" (and even all Men) to essentially equate with Land Owner. Since Voluntary Servitude was commonplace, it seemed only a short step to Involuntary Servitude in the 1770's. It took 100 years for that to even begin to change - 3-4 generations back then. When we consider that over 1/3 of the Colonists still wanted to be subjects of The King we can get a clue as to the sort of climate these men lived in. To me, it is amazing that they couldn't see how their eloquent ideas could become Universal, yet it can work nicely that way, provided we ever measure up, That's not likely anytime soon since it isn't even taught in school anymore in the US itself.

PS- Re: Encryption - The biggest clue that they can break almost if not all encryption I've witnessed is back in the 90s I recall having to fill out a document declaring I am a US citizen and would not share a 128bit encrypted browser with anyone since that was considered spying and treason, iirc. Haven't seen a requirement like that since so it must now be a non-issue.
