I never said anything of the sort. But I am willing to bet that they said that to my great, great, great, great, great grandfather then he fought against the best military in the world. But like I said. If man does not stand for what he believes, what kind of man is he?

I was listening to a linux podcast and they were discussing NSA and smartphones. They said that feature on your smartphone like unlocking your phone with your face or fingerprint could be sent to the NSA.

Using smartphones and google services is like handling a silver platter of information about you as treats to the NSA.

I do value my privacy, but there's nothing much we can do about it except to cut off technology. Besides the only people who should worry about the NSA spying on our privacy are the ones who want to harm us.

The same could be said about using the internet.

Yes, I do know that. I was just adding smartphones to it. Anyway, I think anything that could access the internet is a potential target.

That was different. Then was war. He didn't fight alone. Also back in day technology and training was poorer than today. Can't compare Napoleon with Hitler. Too much gap between that creates unfair game. :P

FUD. If you know what you are doing, it is very difficult for them to track you, especially if you don't use your real name, don't use Google/Yahoo, etc services.

But I bet you don't care. You think it is all the same. Well go ahead, put all your details on Facebook and Twitter and Google+, etc. if you think it's the same.

How about this, you tell me who I am. I'll give you a hit, my name isn't online, it's not on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. Nothing about me is online, and what is may not be true. I'm sure they have a much harder time tracking me than tracking someone who uses these and basically hands their data over in a nice unified and up-to-date format.

Except your ISP knows who you are, and they have ties into the ISPs as well. There is no anonymity in the Internet.

1. Prove it or you are spreading FUD.
As for ECC:

"FUD". You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Nothing in that link invalidates *anything* I said. You're posting links wildly without a sufficient understanding of what they actually mean. The fact that crypto is generally considered "Black Magic" exacerbates that behavior.

To call what I said FUD, is being a little naive best. If the NSA wants to know who you are they will get the info one way or the other. If someone wants into your PC bad enough, they will get in if it is on the internet. That is a fact.

I work for an ISP and I can tell you they would turn that info over in a heartbeat to keep the feds happy and off their back.

Arcane you don't know what you are trying to argue against. Slashdot takes a snippet of an article. Slashdot is not authoritive with regards to the article so it is much better to provide the actual article. With regarrs to wikimedia providing tools for the general public, so what? Ubuntu provides a free OS yet it has tracking in it. It is not about trust or distrust, it is about knowing what you are using. If you use a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th hand "snippet" of information when you can just as easily use the entire original then you are not getting the full story and you leave yourself open to the misinterpretation of others. I posted a link in another thread right from wikipedia where it says that wikipedia is not considered a credible source. If you trust me or not is neither here nor there to me, quote frankly I don't care, but when Wikipedia itself says it and you argue that wikipedia is good you must trust what it says when it says it is not considered credible.

I would also add, regardless of if you use your real name or not the fact you use the same nickname everywhere while you post anti-establishment FUD should indicate you are leaving tracks.

They still have to ask for the data, and that's an extra step. They also have to process the data, which isn't always clear. Why ? Well, you'd be surprised how much IP sharing goes on. I try to download from a site and it says my IP is already downloading something, except no computers on my network are downloading from that site. Furthermore I could have extra privacy or security software like VPN, Tor, freenet, etc that would make their work even harder.

It's the difference between filling out a form and submitting it to the NSA (Facebook, Twitter, Google+), and not filling out any form, using software that will make their job harder, and even just staying under the radar.

As much as you want these things to be equal so you feel good about using social media, they just aren't the same.

I think the founders of this country would disagree.
I think the founders are spinning in their graves. I think they would be appalled by the governmental intrusions. After all the rebelled against a king for quartering troops in private homes and taxation without representation. What is going on now is vastly worse and secret. SECRET! talk about without representation.

No, I was thinking of far more practical and realistic things like using their own weapons against them. Propaganda is their greatest weapon, because it allows them to control the masses. So all you have to do is counter the propaganda. Every time some tape recorder near you says something they heard on the "news" make sure to correct any errors in judgement, disrupt their "two minutes hate", and give them something to think about. This isn't always possible as some tape recorder are very limited in their functions (try to judge this beforehand or you will end up in a heated argument with an idiot). You can also apply to the political side, call congressmen, lobby, fund the EFF, etc. You can also warn people of dangers if you know where things are headed. It is best to try not to sound too much like a conspiracy theorist, so stick to things that are clear cut and easy to explain and demonstrate.

Most of all you should maintain your integrity. They want to break you mentally and they try to use your emotions to sway you. If you ever watch anything that is pure Pathos, remember that Logos is what matters most, and they are doing it for a reason.

Note that I'm not saying that you can win an this stage, because you cannot. You can, however, delay the inevitable.
Uplifting message. Impractical in reality but a reassuring fiction. Have you noticed that Google grabs your traffic with three trackers ON THIS SITE. GoogleAnalytics is nearly everywhere. We are being attacked from every direction and we have been lulled into complacency by decades of "spin." Everyone has your Social Security number, everyone. You can thank the Republicans for that. Voter ID laws tighten the noose. In short, there is no hope for us, but we're nearly extinct from global warming so it'll all work out in the end.

They trade with people whose only wish is to have everyone in chains and they will do anything to make you think that doing such a trade is a good thing. Really, you are just their pawn. They manipulate everything around you, like a theater, just so you can believe it and go along. Well, go along, but I can see ahead, and I know where they are leading you. I won't be there when they herd you off a cliff.
Blah, blah, blah. Here's an idea: Less complaining and more solutions. Anyone can criticize but constructive criticism is much harder. And remember that it is not a simple problem so no simple solution is going to help.
