Buying computer private after years using company provided computers. Sadly its not standard for all computer manufacturers to be able to deselect a MS license fee when buying a computer. The Lenovo option to not give Microsoft 2000SEK (200$) for a Windows license feels like winning.
Kudos to Lenovo i guess.

OEM's don't pay the same price for Windows that us normal folk do. They get it for pennies on the dollar. Possibly even for free because a free Windows license is nothing compared to the inevitable recurring subscriptions most people get. It's like Google. They made Android open and that made phones widely available. They flooded the market. The built a global user base of their services very fast. They make far more from each person using google services than the cost of any phone out there.

Yea, also Lenovo has different Win license fee for different model lines. Meaning when you spec different Lenovo models, the License fee removed changes. I assume MS does not dictate the exact end user Windows fee for each Lenovo model series. This is ugly... but market economy 101 i guess.
I'm happy the License can be removed, but sad its not the same for every computer (non Lenovo) i am interested in.
